| Kings Camp |
Kings Camp is in the northern corner of the Timbavati Private Nature Reserve. The Camp reflects the charm and romance of a colonial past in a pristine corner of unspoilt Africa. Kings Camp is situated facing an open savanna plain with a waterhole, which is frequented by a wide variety of wildlife, day and night.
Kings Camp offers intimate and luxurious accommodation, with only eleven spacious, colonial-style Suites - all of which have indoor and outdoor showers. The suites are beautifully and tastefully appointed, and all boast romantic, soft cascading Mosquito Nets, air conditioning, stocked mini bar fridge, and tea and coffee making facilities. Each Suite has a private verandah.
The central area houses a lounge/dining room, bar, pool terrace and a game viewing platform – overlooking a very active waterhole. Guests may also enjoy the additional facilities of the curio shop, laundry, valet service, gym and library (with internet facilities).
You can enjoy morning and afternoon game drives with knowledgeable rangers in open vehicles. You will be served tea, coffee and biscuits on your morning game drive and drinks and canapés on your afternoon game drive. The afternoon game drive returns to camp after dark, which gives you the opportunity to spot the nocturnally active wildlife with a spotlight.
Guests can also enjoy walks through the bush, which take place just after breakfast, on request. This has to be the best way of experiencing the “finer” aspects of the bushveld. Your knowledgeable ranger will guide you through the fauna and flora of the Timbavati Nature Reserve, pointing out insects, grasses, trees and the smaller species that are all an integral part of the area.
You may also enjoy seeing and learning about the lesser-known animals - from reptiles and amphibians, to colourful and bizarre insects. For those with a botanical interest, there are hundreds of species of trees and shrubs (not to mention the enormous variety of grasses and other plant life).
